The 525 Platinum Largest Super Yacht Taken To The Extreme
Currently owned and operated by the Crown Prince of Dubai, the 525 Platinum is not a new super yacht but still reigns supreme. It also goes by the name Dubai and Goldenstar to some people. The name 525 Platinum comes from the length of the ship, 525 feet. This length means that it is even larger then a Royal Navy destroyer. Originally it was commisioned in 1996 for Prince Jefri Bolkiah who was the younger brother to the Sultan of Brunei. Later is was sold to Shekh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
When it was built the ship was rumored to cost over $300 million dollars. It was made in cooperation between Lurseen with Blohm and Voss yards. This luxury ship has it all including two helicopter pads, one on the top deck and one on the lower deck. Each of these heli pads has their own dedicated observation decks. There are at leas two master staterooms with a rumored five VIP suites with large exterior seating space both on the fore and aft portions of the ship. On the bridge there is the Captain's quarters along with a dedicated lounge and office. Inside the yacht there is even more with plasma screens in each room, a giant squash court, a fully enclosed swimming pool and health spa offering full health and beauty treatments.
Powered by four diesel engines with over nine thousand horsepower a piece it also has a sophisticated security weapons system to protect passengers from unwanted guests. This yacht truly is the pinnacle of the largest super yachts that money can buy. It may be a long time that anyone comes close to attempting to build its equal. There really is not anything in the largest super yacht category that compares to the 525 Platinum, and perhaps in the world of private yachts there never will be.
